WE'RE GOING TO BE GRANDPARENTS!!
OK, that's it for June - everything else pails in comparison!
Jocelyn called us a couple of weeks ago and told us the good news - her and Jon are expecting early next year. We won't know if it's a 'he' or a 'she' for awhile, but we are so happy for Jon and Jossy. And did I mention WE'RE GOING TO BE GRANDPARENTS!? YAY!!!
Now it's time for us to move to Kansas ;-)
Now it's time for us to move to Kansas ;-)
Well, we did do a few things in June... keep reading....
We made our annual trek to Murphy's on the Honda where we had lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, Mineral.
The Stockton Jewish Temple has an annual Food Festival - this was their 39th year - but the first time we went. The music, food, drink, and people made it fun afternoon.
Oh, speaking of electric cars... the Tesla Model 'S' started rolling off of the assembly line in Fremont. We stopped by the Tesla dealership in the Santana Row shopping center and did a little fanatasizing...
Where's the 'Drive' button?
A co-worker at the Modesto Kaiser moved out of state this month - they had a farewell party for her one Wednesday after work.
Trisha, (the blonde lady on the right) got a job in Florida - her and her family moved there to be closer to extended family (she is from there originally).
As a result, Robbie, my co-worker in Stockton, transferred to Modesto, where he lives. He will take over Trisha's vascular ultrasound responsibilities. We will miss him in Stockton!
One weekend in Modesto there was a huge classic car show with over 800 restored classics. We went with Ravi and Naju, then the four of us went out for dinner (mmm... Indian buffet....)
Oh, speaking of electric cars... the local Ford dealership called me to let me know that the new Ford Focus Electric was available. Haruko and I did a test drive - it was quite impressive, but at $40K it will have to remain on my 'wish list' for now.
Taking advantage of the 'budget EV' (my Zero electric motorcycle), Haruko and I went for a ride to Rio Vista, where we plugged in to charge while enjoying coffee and breakfast at a local coffee shop/bakery.
Ravi, Naju, Haruko and I went to San Francisco one Sunday - to do some tourist stuff. We started at China Town:
Then we walked to Coit Tower after lunch.
The view from the base of Coit Tower.
The view from the top.
It was quite a hike from where we parked!
While we were in San Franciso - an elderly gentleman fell in front of us. We called 9-1-1 and waited until we saw the paramedics get a heartbeat on the EKG monitor.
Every Wednesday during the summer there is a live concert at Victory Park in Stockton. A stage is setup and a band plays for a couple of hours while everyone picnics, dances, and just enjoys the community. We've been twice this summer and we are really enjoying it.
Bob and I took off for a motorcycle ride one Saturday - we rode from Sunol to Milpitas... via the mountains! (Look out for the... car!)
The Calaveras Dam is being rebuilt.
We pulled over to rest upon arriving in Milpitas - nice shade!
