David and 春子!

Hello again - how was your September? We had some fun times!

I (Dave) took off on a "long-distance" ride on the electric scooter. I rode from Stockton to Discovery Bay (30 miles!) This is where my good friend Bob lives - he let me charge up the Vectrix at his house for the ride back home. I took it real slow to make sure I had enough electricity to get there - turned out I had plenty - so I rode home a little faster! (See video below).

I found another electric vehicle on the way home!

One Sunday Haruko and I rode the I.C.E. (Internal Combustion Engine) motorcycle out to Rio Vista to have lunch and investigate the Electric Vehicle Charging Station there. It is a left-over from the days of the EV1 and other electric cars that were on the road:

I brought my Voltmeter to check to see if there was electricity.

110 Volts!

We noticed that the lightpoles in downtown Rio Vista had outlets, but they didn't have any current.

Meanwhile - the outlet at Kaiser didn't have any electricity, but they fixed it:

We went to the annual Greek Festival in Stockton - had some good food (and beer!), enjoyed the music and the crowd. (See video below).

We went to the Lodi Grape Festival on a Sunday afternoon with our friends Javier and Edna:

There wasn't much going on when we went, but we still enjoyed the sunshine and junkfood...

The comedian Lewis Black was at the UC Davis theater on a Friday night - it was a sold out event!

(I couldn't take a picture during the show; no cameras allowed)

The last weekend in September Haruko and I drove up to Reno for the annual Street Vibrations Festival:

We met some friends there... but I forgot to take pictures! One friend we met on Saturday night was Milko Vasquez. He used to live in Stockton and work at Dameron, but he finished college and now teaches at the high school in Minden (just south of Carson City).

On Sunday we met Bob for lunch (see first picture above). He was there for the Street Vibrations too, but his sister also lives in Carson City.
By coincidence we also ran into an Jim Morgan - an RN that used to work at the San Joaquin Hospital. He also lives in the Reno area with his new wife Nancy.

While we were in Reno we stopped by the National Automobile Museum to check out the history of cars:

This car is the Detroit Electric car, an electric car that was mass produced for over 30 years (from 1907-1938)... just imagine if they hadn't quit. (But - they are coming back from history - click on the link!)

Until next month - take care!
