July '10

Hi Family and Friends!

We hope all is well wherever you happen to be right now.

We had a fun July - starting with a motorcycle ride to Napa with our friends Bob and Reiko -- and two other couples.

We stopped at a winery called 'PEJU', for a short break, then on to Calistoga for dinner, before heading back home.

We celebrated the 4th of July (on Monday the 5th), with Sean and Keri. We enjoyed the conversation and delicious food that Haruko prepared.

David's Vectrix was repaired by the a service guy named Dana DeCosta. He drove from Massachusetts to the west coast to fix the bike. Needless to say David is happy to be riding on electrons again :-)

We went to San Jose for the Obon Festival in Japantown, with Ravi and Naju. There was lots of good food.
We checked out the Buddhist temple too.

Haruko participated in the Bon Odori festival at the Stockton Buddhist temple a couple of weeks later. (See video below).

We made the trek to Salinas for the motorcycle races at the Laguna Seca raceway.

There were all kinds of bikes there, like this T-Rex:

But, of course, the electric bikes were the most interesting ;-) This is one of the bikes (Brammo Inertia) that were ridden from Detroit to Washington DC, in an attempt to deliver an electric motorcycle to President Obama:

This is Brammo's newest model, the Empulse:

Until next month -- take care everyone!
