DAVID AND HARUKO IN WASHINGTON!

Greetings from the Northwest where April Showers bring May Showers!

We woke up one Sunday morning to a snowstorm that ended up dumping a couple of inches of snow on the ground, one of the best snowstorms so far this year.

How is everyone? I hope well. This month we spent some time with family. One weekend we went to Sequim to see Grandpa Ewert and David's sister.

There is an annual festival here in the fields just west of Mount Vernon -

The Tulip Festival!

It lasts for the month of April - the downtown streets are closed to traffic and filled with vendors. The tulip fields are open to the public - people come from all over to see the various types of Tulips and take pictures.

We went to the tulip fields a second time with Micah and Kazumi (and Sakura, Hanaka & Taiga)

One day we drove east to a small town called Marblemount, near the Cascade Mountains (the far right on the map):

We noticed, on the side of the highway, a stand of bamboo trees in the middle of the typical trees:

I had fun at the "Green My Ride" Alternative Energy Fair in Seattle where there were a dozen or so electric cars:
I dragged Haruko along with me:

My brother-in-law Micah and I went to a great lecture in Seattle by Austin Dacey, author of "The Secular Conscience" - Micah is reading the book - I hope to get it soon.

Take care everyone,
Until next month,
David & 春子 (Haruko)
