April '11

Hi Everyone - we hope all is well with you. We had a fun April, except for saying good-bye to Jocelyn. Her mom threw a big going-away party at a local restaurant, then we took Jossy to the airport the next morning.

Jocelyn is now back on base at Fort Riley, Kansas:

We met Jerod and Hayley for Jamba Juice one evening. They are always busy with school and homework so it's fun to get together when we have a chance.

My obsession with electric vehicles keeps on going and going... the odometer on the electric bike just turned over 10,000 miles.
Although the bike is still running well, the range has decreased somewhat. I can still commute to work in Manteca, but not much further than that. I have decided to invest in new battery pack, with the lithium-ion batteries (vs. the NiMH that came with the bike). This will allow me to ride further on each charge, making the bike a bit more practical, and it should increase it's resale value when I do trade it in on something bigger and better. Check out this new toy from a company called Lito Green Motion:

This new company is pushing the limits of the technology - they claim this electric motorcycle will go 185 miles per charge, nearly twice as far as the current technology.

Our three guard cats often work together. But Momo is most assertive when keeping intruders at bay (see 'Glass Attack' video below).

Sadly, illiteracy is still an ongoing problem in stockton...

I'm planning to ride to Sturgis, South Dakota in August, with my sister, Donna. She just bought a motorcycle recently.

To prepare, I bought a tank-bag.

And a wind-shield.
Now we just have to wait three more months!

Ravi, Naju, Haruko and I went to Sacramento one Saturday evening where we spent some time in Old Sacramento... and then we went to downtown Sacramento for the Art Walk (see video below).

On another weekend we went to San Jose with Bob and Reiko for the grand-opening of the newest Tesla store - in the Shopping area called Sanata Row.

I bought the blue one ;-)

My boss asked me to work at the Modesto Kaiser one day, this is the view from the gym on the fourth floor.

Some folks haven't heard yet about global climate change or rising gas prices...

On Easter Sunday Ravi, Naju, Haruko and I drove to Mt. Diablo, all the way to the peak. At the top is a history museum - we enjoyed checking it out.
The peak was in the clouds (see video below), but the view on the way up and on the way down was beautiful.

After driving back down from the mountain we drove to Danville where we met Steve for lunch and stopped by his place. I tried to play one of his guitars... but failed miserably ;-)

I got a little carried away with the videos this month... but if you have absolutely nothing better to do....
